MINNETONKA, Minn. (AP) — State Sen. Terri Bonoff of Minnetonka says she is running for the U.S. House seat held by Republican Erik Paulsen.
Bonoff announced her DFL candidacy Saturday. She also ran for Congress in 2008 but lost the DFL endorsement to attorney Ashwin Madia.
Bonoff says she wants to bring her "independent brand of governance and leadership to Washington." She says in her 11 years in the Minnesota Senate, her work has been about "building bridges, forging partnerships and exchanging ideas."
Paulsen won the western suburban seat in 2008 and has easily won re-election three times. He has amassed $2.3 million in his fundraising account.
Bonoff tells Minnesota Public Radio News (http://bit.ly/1VrZcSE ) she will be competitive in fundraising.
The Paulsen campaign calls Bonoff "a failed Congressional candidate retread back for another try."
