BAYPORT, Minn. (KMSP) - Stillwater prison warden Steven Hammer has been placed on investigative leave, the Minnesota Department of Corrections confirmed to Fox 9. The warden was placed on leave on Monday, Aug. 29.
One prosecutor told Fox 9 it is “unprecedented” for a warden to be placed on this kind of leave.
Hammer took over as warden in Stillwater on March 16, 2015 after moving there from the Rush City prison. Associate warden Chris Pawelk is now in charge of the Stillwater facility.
