Three men indicted in murder of Wright County teen
(KMSP) - A grand jury indicted three men in the murder of a Wright County teen, who was found unresponsive at the entrance of Crow Springs Park in Franklin Township, Minn. in June.
21-year-old Shawn Benson was indicted for premeditated murder and second degree intentional murder of 19-year-old Cheyenne Clough. 29-year-old Justin Jensen and 26-year-old Edward Zelko were both indicted for aid and abet first degree premeditated murder and aid and abet second degree intentional murder.
According to a press release, Clough and her boyfriend, Devon Boyles, were staying at Jensen's home in Maple Lake. On May 31, Jensen reached out to a bounty hunter and had Boyles arrested on outstanding warrants. Clough became very upset with and began arguing with those living in the home. She was asked to leave, but refused, so they threatened to call the police on her. In return, Clough threatened to call the police on one of the other residents who had an outstanding warrant. The argument continued into the early hours of June 1.
At one point Jensen, Benson and Zelko spoke inside Zelko's car, which was parked in front of Jensen's home. Jensen asked for his .22 caliber gun to be brought out to them inside the car and then orders a "hit" on Clough to kill her.
At about 2:30 a.m. Jensen tells Clough that Zelko and Benson were going to give her a ride to her mother's house in Buffalo.
At about 3 a.m., they brought her to Crow Springs Park in Franklin Township. Benson shot Clough four times with Jensen's gun. The two men returned to Jensen's home and told him they shot her. A few hours later, they all leave for International Falls and throw away the gun in a river.
Clough was found unresponsive at the park around 8 a.m. She died on June 4 at North Memorial Hospital.
By June 5, all the suspects were found and had bee taken into custody.
