ARLINGTON, Texas (KMSP) - The wait is finally over. The Twins organization has called up minor league player, and what the MLB has called the "top prospect in baseball," Byron Buxton today. 21-year-old Buxton was the second pick in the 2012 draft. The Twins have been on a five game losing streak, and they have decided to mix it up a bit.

Buxton played in 31 games last year, dealing with wrist injuries on and off, as well as a concussion. The Twins organization didn't want to rush him too quickly, especially when they were on a hot streak early on this year.

The No. 2 overall pick has amazing bat speed, and plenty of speed in the ground with 12 triples and 20 stolen bases in 59 games. And don't forget about his fielding, Buxton could be a future contender for a golden glove award.

The Twins will finish their series in Texas today, trying to avoid being swept. They will begin their next series in St Louis tomorrow facing off against the Cardinals. The Twins hope to bring some life back to their team by adding Buxton, everyone over here at Fox 9 wishes Byron the best of luck!
