Two children airlifted to hospital after Steele County crash

Two children were airlifted to a hospital in Rochester after they were injured in a two-vehicle crash in rural Steele County, according to the Steele County Sheriff's Office.

Officials say the crash happened around 2:11 p.m. at intersection of SE 38th Street and SE 64th Avenue.

An F250 pickup driven by a 52-year-old man collided with an SUV driven by 31-year-old woman. Both drivers are from Steele County.

Responders took the man to Owatonna Hospital. His condition is not known.

The woman, who had minor injuries, was treated at the scene. A three-year-old girl and a two-year-old boy, who were riding in the woman's vehicle, were airlifted to St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester. Their conditions are not known.

The children were in their car seats and wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.

Neither drugs or alcohol are believed to be factors in the incident.

The case still under investigation.
