Construction moves Uptown Art Fair to Bachman's
Construction had caused the Uptown Art Fair to be canceled, but then it was moved to Bachman's on Lyndale Avenue in Minneapolis to keep the fair going. FOX 9's Babs Santos has the story.
MINNEAPOLIS (FOX 9) - The Uptown Art Fair is now the SoMi Art Fair, and will take place at Bachman's Minneapolis again, after the fair moved there last year due to construction at its original location, Hennepin Avenue in Uptown.
Uptown Art Fair changes to SoMi Art Fair
What we know:
Organizers of the Uptown Art Fair announced Thursday that the fair will be reimagined for 2025 and will now be called SoMi Art Fair. SoMi is short for South Minneapolis, and the fair will be held at Bachman's on Lyndale Avenue again this year.
The event will be in the parking lot of Bachman's, and will feature over 300 artists, food, live music and art demonstrations.
The SoMi Art Fair will take place Aug. 2-3.

Why the name and location change?

The Uptown Art Fair had a scaled-down version last summer at Bachman's due to construction on Hennepin Avenue in Uptown. Organizers had originally canceled the fair due to the closure of Hennepin Avenue during construction.
Now organizers are keeping the fair at Bachman's this summer and renaming it due to "logistical challenges" from the new design and ongoing construction of Hennepin Avenue that was unveiled in November, and "soaring" production costs.
