MINNEAPOLIS (FOX 9) - UPDATE: Hospital officials now say only two of the victims of the crash are in critical condition. Two of the victims are now in satisfactory condition and another is in fair condition.
Six people were injured after a van crashed into a Metro Transit bus shelter in Minneapolis Tuesday morning. The crash occurred at the intersection of West Broadway Avenue and Lyndale Avenue North.
Metro Transit spokesperson Howie Padilla said three of the victims are in critical condition at North Memorial Health and two are in serious condition at the Hennepin County Medical Center. The sixth victim was treated and released.
According to Metro Transit, the driver was an 83-year-old male.
Darnell Love Jackson told FOX 9 he was standing at the bus stop and witnesses the crash, which he called an intentional act.
“That was premeditated, because he came back around twice,” Jackson said. “He plotted it out, figured it out and came back around, saw people at the bus stop and ran them over. He wanted to do it intentionally.”
Authorities did not want to speculate as to whether the crash was intentional, however.
