Victim dies from injuries after northeast Minneapolis arson fire

A woman died after she was severely burned in an arson fire at a duplex northeast Minneapolis Thursday morning. 

The fire started around 6:45 a.m. in a residence on the 2900 block of Taylor Street Northeast. Officers were originally called to the scene on a reported of unknown trouble at the home. The call was later upgraded to a fire. 

The victim was found critically burned at the scene. A man, who is now considered a suspect in the fire, was located several blocks away with burns on his hands. Both were transported to a nearby hospital, where the victim later died. The suspect is expected to survive. 

Investigators believe the suspect and the victim had a prior relationship. 

Minneapolis Police are investigating the incident as a homicide and arson.
