Victim of fatal Friday night shooting identified

MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) - A man died in a late night shooting Friday in north Minneapolis, according to police.

According the Hennepin County Medical Examiner, the victim is 28-year-old Jaquan DeMario Oatis.

Officers responded to a ShotSpotter report at the 2900 block of Morgan Ave N right before midnight. When police arrived they found a man, who had been shot, lying on the sidewalk. He was later pronounced dead by paramedics. According to the medical examiner report, he died of multiple gun shot wounds.

Police also learned several vehicles left the area soon after the shots were reported.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner will release the name of the victim and an autopsy report.

The case is still under investigation.
