Vikings fans prepare for Glendale after Wild Card game location switched

With the Monday night Vikings vs Rams game moving to Glendale, Arizona, fans have had to make accommodations to cheer the Vikings on in person.

Fan input

What they're saying:

The fans FOX 9 spoke to believe the NFL made the right decision, believing safety and the communities of southern California come first over a football game.

"If we had a football game out there, it would take away from those necessary resources," said William Stein.

Stein has no problem chanting "Skol" in Glendale, so first responders can focus on the wildfires.

Stein re-booked his flight and got Monday night game tickets.

"It was a little bit more than I wanted to spend on the flight for the for the flight to Arizona," said Stein.

Travel costs

What we know:

A round-trip flight to Phoenix starts at around $300, according to Kayak.com.

And while Stein paid more than he wanted for a flight, he lucked out on his game day seats.

"The ticket was a lot better than where I would have sat in L.A. because I’m in the lower section in Arizona," said Stein.

Right now, if you tried to get a ticket for Monday night, section 400 seats start at about $150, that’s according to Ticketmaster.

But the best seats in the house go into the thousands of dollars.

"I got my ticket. They were $110 each," said Lika Lattergrass.

That’s $110 for a level 100 seat in Glendale –  a huge savings for Lattergrass from the game day ticket he purchased for L.A.

"I actually bought one of the VIP tickets. So it was like close to $1,200," said Lattergrass.

NFL Wild Card history

Dig deeper:

Monday night will be the first playoff game in the Super Bowl era on a neutral field.

"We don't deserve to play on the road. And then you have L.A., they won their division, they earned the right to play at home, and it's devastating and sad that they're not being able to play because of wildfires," said Lattergrass.

Most Minnesotans want the Vikings to win.

However, fans understand there are L.A. Rams fans, players, and families that are affected by the wildfires, and this is just a football game.
