Wegmans recalls chicken nuggets after bone fragments found in meat: See states impacted

Wegmans is recalling chicken nuggets in multiple states and Washington, D.C. after bone fragments were detected in the meat. 

There have been no reported injuries due to eating the nuggets. But anyone concerned about an injury should contact a healthcare provider, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) website.

States where the chicken nuggets were sold

The nuggets were only made for Wegmans Food Markets and distributed in Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Washington, D.C.

The supermarket retailer received consumer complaints of the bone fragments in the food and the organization contacted the Food Safety and Inspection Service about the issue.

Which chicken nugget products are being recalled?

This recall covers 46 ounce plastic packages containing "Wegmans Family Pack Fully Cooked Breaded Chicken Breast with Rib Meat" with a best if used by date of Aug. 26, 2025. This is located on the back of the packaging next to the barcode in the lower right corner. The product was produced on Aug. 26, 2024.

The Food Safety and Inspection Service tells the Associated Press that it is worried that consumers may still have some of the nugget packages in their freezers. 

What you can do:

Wegmans said that all packages can be returned for a full refund. If you still have packages, it’s recommended not to eat the nuggets, and to throw it away or return it to the store where it was purchased.
