Western WI teacher charged with sexual exploitation of minor
GLENWOOD CITY, Wis. (KMSP) - A staff member at a high school in western Wisconsin was charged Friday for allegedly exchanging sexually explicit images and videos with a young girl in Missouri.
Local law enforcement agencies were contacted by police in Missouri that a minor had been in contact with Peter Gaustad, a staff member in the Glenwood City School District.
Law enforcement conducted a search warrant at Gaustad's home in Glenwood City on Thursday and interviewed him. He was taken into custody and charged by St. Croix County prosecutors with two counts of sexual exploitation of a child, one county of exposing a child to harmful material, one count causing a child to view/listen to sexual activity, and one charge of use of a computer to facilitate a child sex crime.
Gaustad has been place on administrative leave, according to a news release from the school district.
Both the Glenwood City Police Department and the school district say there is no information suggesting any students from the district were involved in the events surrounding the investigation.
