Zimmerman man arrested for driving truck into building, injuring 5

A 63-year-old man has been arrested for crashing his pickup truck into a business in Zimmerman, Minnesota Monday, injuring five people.

Robert Johnson of Zimmerman was heading east on Fremont Avenue when he left the roadway and slammed into Reliant Systems, where several employees were working, according to the Sherburne County sheriff’s office. The truck continued another 30-40 feet into the building before coming to a stop.

First responders and witnesses rescued employees from the debris and two people were airlifted to nearby hospitals. Two others were transported to the hospital by ambulance. A fifth victim was taken to an area hospital by a private party. Johnson, the driver, suffered minor injuries.

Johnson was arrested and booked for criminal vehicular operation. Authorities believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.
