MINNEAPOLIS (FOX 9) - Anthony Edwards scored a career-high 53 points Saturday night, albeit in a 119-105 loss to the Detroit Pistons.
After the game, he shared an incredible moment with a 6-year-old boy. He met Luca, a child who is battling Leukemia and was at the game and wearing Edwards’ No. 5 jersey. He sat courtside and held a sign that said, "To Do: 1. Beat Cancer; 2. Be the Next MJ."
Edwards autographed the sign, then got an orange wrist band from the boy. He told Luca, "I’ll wear this for the rest of my career on my left arm band just for you."
Edwards then brought Luca into the Timberwolves’ locker room to meet other players, who also got orange wristbands from him. Edwards is known for his trash talk and his colorful language, but he's also a fan-favorite and has a human side, especially now that he's a dad.
What happened next?
Why it matters: Edwards wore the wristband Monday night against the Los Angeles Clippers, and went off for 37 points, eight assists and seven rebounds in a 108-106 win. Edwards led the Timberwolves back from a 19-point deficit in the first half. He scored 15 straight points at one point.
Another big game against the Pelicans
What we know: Tuesday night, Edwards had 32 points, nine rebounds, three assists and two steals as the Timberwolves beat Zion Williamson and the New Orleans Pelicans 104-97.
The Timberwolves have won two straight since Edwards got the bracelet, and they’re in the No. 8 spot in the West at 19-17.
