Bella McCauley on Big Ten title: 'Something you dream about'

Gophers' sophomore sensation Isabella McCauley won her first Big Ten title and is headed to the NCAA Regionals in Alabama.

Bella McCauley has played on the biggest stages in golf both as an individual competitor and with the University of Minnesota.

She can add one more to her already lengthy list. McCauley on Tuesday announced she’s received an invite to play in the Augusta National Women’s Invitational.

Making Gophers’ history

What we know: McCauley is the first Gophers’ women’s golfer to compete in the event’s now six-year history. The tournament features the top women’s amateur players in the world.

The prestige

Why it matters: The Augusta National Women’s Amateur is played a week before the Master’s Invitational, the first major on the professional golf circuit. The winner of the Master’s gets a lifetime membership to Augusta National.

McCauley, an Inver Grove Heights native, qualified by being one of the top-30 players from the U.S. and the Women’s World Amateur Golf Rankings.

The 54-hole tournament is April 2-5, starting with a field of 72 that will be cut to the top-30 and ties after 36 holes.

‘Simply a dream come true’

What she said: For any competitive golfer, getting to play at Augusta National is a bucket list item.

"I’m so excited to be invited to the 2025 Augusta National Women’s Amateur," McCauley said. "This is simply a dream come true. I’ve been working towards this for a long time, so it’s amazing seeing the hard work pay off."
