(KMSP) - It may be all about the Vikings in Minnesota right now, but Gov. Mark Dayton is trying to build hype around another football team.
Dayton has declared Thursday, Jan. 11 #ScarvesUpMN Day to encourage Minnesota soccer fans to show their support for the state's first Major League Soccer team, the Minnesota United, and "help ignite passion for the game."
"Minnesotans across the state can show their Minnesota United pride and support soccer at all levels by putting their scarves up!" the proclamation states.
The Minnesota United played their first MLS season in 2017. They open their 2018 season on Saturday, March 3 away against the San Jose Earthquakes.
Scarves up, Loons fans!
