(FOX 9) - It’s Week 6 of the PJ Fleck Show on Fox 9, and the University of Minnesota football team is back from its bye week after a 20-10 loss to Purdue on Homecoming at Huntington Bank Stadium.
It was the Gophers’ first loss of the season, after a 4-0 start where they had outscored opponents by a combined 183-24. Without Mo Ibrahim, Minnesota ran for less than 50 yards and had self-inflicted mistakes in the loss to the Boilermakers.
PJ Fleck joins Fox 9’s Pierre Noujaim, Gophers’ analyst Ron Johnson and KFAN sideline reporter Justin Gaard to talk about what went wrong against Purdue, what the team did during the bye week and how the Gophers are preparing for Illinois. Safety Tyler Nubin also joins the show, one of the leaders on the No. 1 total defense in the country for yardage allowed.
Minnesota heads to Champaign on Sunday to face an Illinois team coming off a 9-6 win over Iowa last week. The Gophers’ biggest task is to contain Chase Brown, one of the top running backs in the nation. He’s second in the country, averaging 146.6 yards per game. Minnesota features the No. 6 rushing defense in the nation.
