Minnesota Aurora FC names Jen Larrick new head coach

For the third time in as many seasons, Minnesota Aurora FC will have a new coach when the season starts.

Aurora officials announced Tuesday that Jen Larrick has been named the new head coach for the USL-W team. She was an assistant under Nicole Lukic for the team’s first two seasons, one that included a run to the USL-W championship game.

"I am beyond thrilled to be returning to Aurora," Larrick said in a team-issued statement. "I love working with Aurora players - they know how to enjoy their soccer while pushing each other to grow. And, to be supported by our incredible community of fans is really something special."

What we know: Colette Montgomery spent one season as the Aurora head coach and led Minnesota to the Heartland Division title. They went 10-0-2 while scoring 61 goals and allowing just six.

Minnesota Aurora FC got to the conference semifinals before losing to Indy 11, 2-1.

Who is Jen Larrick?

What we know: Larrick is a Massachusetts native who played Division I soccer at the University of Florida and the University of Minnesota before playing at the Cardiff Metropolitan University in United Kingdom, and Waterside Karori AFC of New Zealand.

She earned a Master’s degre

e in Youth Development at Minnesota.

"We are extremely excited to welcome back Jen Larrick into the Aurora organization," said Minnesota Aurora FC interim President Allie Schmidt in a statement. "Jen was an integral part of our on field success in Aurora’s first two seasons as an assistant coach and we know she will bring all her skills and talents to Aurora for our 4th season."
