Minnesota Wild's lease for Xcel Energy Center extended through 2035
ST. PAUL, Minn. (FOX 9) - The Minnesota Wild will continue to call the Xcel Energy Center home for at least another decade.
The team and St. Paul city officials announced a 10-year lease extension during a press conference Tuesday afternoon.
The team's original lease with the city lasted through 2025. The City Council voted unanimously to extend the lease through 2035. The new lease went into effect April 8.
Under the terms of the lease, the Wild will continue to pay more than 80 percent of all principal and interest payments. The Wild are responsible for the day-to-day operations and maintenance at Xcel, while the City of St. Paul will continue as owners of the stadium.
