A familiar face is returning to the Minnesota Vikings defense line. The Vikings officially announced the signing of defensive tackle Tom Johnson on Wednesday. The team waived defensive tackle David Parry in a corresponding move.

Johnson was released by the Seattle Seahawks on Sept. 17 after starting in Week 1. The eight-year veteran spent the 2014 through 2017 seasons with the Vikings, appearing in 62 regular-season games with 25 starts and three playoff games with two postseason starts. Johnson, who has appeared in 103 career games, played with New Orleans from 2011 through 2013 prior to joining the Vikings. Johnson registered 16 of his 21 career sacks as member of the Vikings.

Johnson is latest roster move in a flurry of transactions by the Vikings after Sunday's 29-29 tie with the Green Bay Packers. Tuesday, the Vikings signed kicker Dan Bailey after releasing Daniel Carlson, who missed three kicks in Green Bay. To make room on the roster, the Vikings waived wide receiver Stacy Coley.

On Monday, the Vikings signed wide receiver Aldrick Robinson after waiving Carlson.
