MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) - The Minnesota Twins announced Monday they have signed manager Paul Molitor to a three-year contract extension.
Molitor was named Twins manager in November 2014, replacing Ron Gardenhire. His three-year contract expired at the end of the season, but chief baseball officer Derek Falvey and general manager Thad Levine signed him to a new deal through 2020.
The contract comes after Molitor led theTwins to a winning record of 87-77 in 2017,a 26-win improvement from the previous season and the biggest improvement in baseball, according to the team. The Twins also made the postseason for the first time since 2010, although they fell to the Yankees in the Wild Card game.
In three seasons as manager, Molitor has led the club to a record of 227-259, including winning seasons in 2015 and 2017.
