Vikings DC Brian Flores will take all head coach interview requests

The Minnesota Vikings face the L.A. Rams on Monday Night Football in the NFC Wild Card Playoffs next week.

Will it be the final game for Brian Flores if the Vikings lose? He said Tuesday at TCO Performance Center he’ll take any interview requests he gets for head coaching jobs.

"I plan on taking them all. I plan on sitting down and having conversations with any team that’s interested in talking to me about that position. I look forward to talking to people about my football journey. When that time comes, I’ll do that," Flores said. "My focus is the Rams."

New York Jets, Chicago Bears show interest

Why it matters: Reports emerged Monday that the New York Jets and Chicago Bears put in interview requests for Flores. The Jets fired Robert Saleh earlier this season, and the Bears parted ways with Matt Eberflu.

Flores will interview with both teams, but they will be virtual and three days after the Vikings face the Rams in the playoffs. That would make it the end of next week.

What about a reunion with the Patriots?

What we know: Flores was with the New England Patriots from 2008-18, winning four Super Bowls, before taking the Miami Dolphins head coaching job. They have to show interest and put in a request, but he would entertain that option.

‘I look forward to having those conversations’

Why it matters: Flores went 24-25 in three seasons with the Dolphins before getting fired. He as a defensive assistant for Mike Tomlin with the Steelers before replacing Ed Donatell in Minnesota. He says it’s an honor to get an interview for a head coaching job. He didn’t get any requests last year.

This year, the Vikings lead the NFL with 24 interceptions and have 49 sacks. His top priority is getting the Vikings ready for the Rams.

"Any time you’re mentioned in these head coaching conversations, or receive a request, it’s an honor. Definitely don’t take those lightly, and I look forward to having those conversations," Flores said. "I could tell you this, I’m locked in on the Rams. It’s certainly an honor, but my No. 1 priority is getting this defense ready to play against the Rams."
