WATCH: ND college student scores fastest goal in NCAA history
BISMARK, N.D. - A University of Mary women’s soccer player scored the fastest goal in NCAA soccer history Sunday in a 2-0 win over the University of Minnesota-Crookston.
After receiving the ball during the opening kickoff, senior forward Megan Searson blasted it from midfield and sent it soaring 54 yards into U of M-Crookston’s net – scoring the team’s first goal only three seconds into the match.
According to reports, Searson, a Blackburn, England native, had a 33 mph wind at her back when she took the shot.
The Mauraders later scored a second, leading them to win over the Golden Eagles 2-0.
The goal set an NCAA record across all divisions for fastest goal to start the game.
