FOX 9 meteorologist Jared Piepenburg caught up with the Future Farmers of America to discuss agriculture's contribution to the Minnesota State Fair.

FOX 9's Shayne Wells checked out the 4H Livestock Show at the Minnesota State Fair. Thousands of animals, including goats, sheep, bunnies, alpacas and other farm critters come to the Minnesota State Fair every year.

Sunflower fields in full bloom at Lino Lakes farm

A blooming celebration is underway in Lino Lakes. The sunflower fields are blossoming at the Joyer Adventure Farm. The fourth generation family farm is hosting a sunflower festival to celebrate. Visitors can wander the fields, cut their own sunflower and take advantage of the other offerings like the barnyard, kids playground, pick-your-own bouquet field and hayrides. Starting Sept. 21, the pumpkin patch will be open along with a corn maze. The Joyer Adventure Farm is part of the Waldoch Farm Garden Center and will be open Thursday to Sunday. The Garden Center is open Wednesday through Monday.

Local butter sculptor prepares for Minnesota State Fair

Tucked away in his home art studio in Litchfield, Gerry Kulzer creates masterpieces in the form of three-dimensional portrait busts.  FOX 9’s Leah Beno was shocked when she walked in the door, and Kulzer asked if he could carve her face during the interview for practice. 

Bird flu detected in Benton County dairy cows

Bird flu, known by the medical term H5N1 highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI), was detected in a Benton County dairy cow herd after an outbreak over the weekend, according to state officials. 

MN turkeys being pardoned by President Biden

Two turkeys from Willmar, Minnesota, will be pardoned on Monday by President Joe Biden as part of an annual Thanksgiving tradition. The turkeys will retire to the University of Minnesota’s College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences in St. Paul following their time in Washington, D.C.
