Minneapolis council to vote on Labor Standards Board

The Minneapolis City Council will vote on a controversial measure on Thursday that has drawn ire from the business community. The proposal, which would create a Labor Standards Board, would task a 15-member panel with making recommendations to the city council and mayor about wages, benefits, working conditions and other regulations.

Mothership Pizza opens in Edina

The crew behind Mr. Paul’s Supper Club in Edina has opened another restaurant in the same neighborhood. Mothership Pizza Paradise is all about wood-fired pizza, handmade pasta, and craft cocktails. FOX 9’s Shayne Wells has more on the new restaurant.

Shimmering pumpkin patch opens in Minneapolis

A pumpkin patch in the Seward neighborhood of Minneapolis is selling pumpkins that last forever, if you handle them with care. The Glass Pumpkin Patch event will be held at the FOCI Minnesota Center for Glass Arts Oct. 12-13 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. There will be hundreds of pumpkins for sale, as well as demonstrations and opportunities to create your pumpkin color scheme. New creperie brings French flavors to France Ave

Oh Crêpe opened over the summer at 44th and France Avenue in Minneapolis, the former location of the first Caribou Coffee. Owner Claire Corvaisier grew up in Brittany, France - the region crepes originated. The creperie uses traditional recipes for sweet and savory crepes, plus a 25-layer crepe cake sold by the slice.

Fine art gallery opens in former Brothers Bar space

Two years ago, Brothers Bar & Grill, a downtown Minneapolis spot popular with the college crowd, closed its doors. On Sept. 30, it reopens as a fine art gallery. The entire building has undergone a change with the Kickernick Gallery in the front corner space, a future restaurant in the basement and rental space available for artists to use as a studio. The gallery features 12 local artists and is bringing art back to downtown Minneapolis. The gallery is located at 430 N. 1st Avenue and will be open Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
