Family of man killed during police chase celebrates MPD officer's charges

Meeting at the intersection where he was killed, the family of Leneal Frazier celebrated the news Friday that criminal charges were filed more than three months after the fatal crash. This is the eighth time a Minnesota officer has been charged in connection to an on-duty death, but the first time an officer in this state has been charged for their role in an on-duty pursuit.

Freeman charged Minneapolis Police Officer Brian Cummings with second-degree manslaughter and criminal vehicular homicide for a high-speed, squad-involved crash that killed Leneal Frazier.

Mohamed Noor resentenced: Release date, what was said in court

Following the Minnesota Supreme Court reversing Mohamed Noor's third-degree murder conviction in the death of Justine Damond, he was resentenced Thursday to 57 months in prison for second-degree manslaughter. The 57 months is the top end of the sentencing guidelines per Minnesota law. With time served, Noor will be eligible for supervised release on June 27, 2022.
