Fall colors are already starting to pop up in Minnesota. The Minnesota DNR has launched its fall color finder, and on Thursday held a press conference on what to expect with this year's colors.

The DNR is showing special attention to "misunderstood fish" or "rough fish" that anglers may not be the most thrilled about catching but play a vital role in aquatic ecosystems and keeping Minnesota waterways healthy.

Bear shot after roaming through Minneapolis

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources fatally shot a black bear police had been tracking as it moved through a residential area of north Minneapolis on Sunday morning. Around 10 a.m. Sunday, a Minneapolis Police spokesperson said officers were monitoring the bear, which had been wandering around north Minneapolis, and were working with the Department of Natural Resources.

Most of Minnesota under burning restrictions due to fire risk

Much of Minnesota is under burning restrictions amid ongoing drought conditions, the Minnesota DNR said on Wednesday. The DNR is restricting open burning due to an increased risk of wildfires due to dry conditions across much of the state.

Leave baby deer alone, Minnesota DNR urges

This is the time of year people may start to see fawns all alone in wooded areas but the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is urging people to leave them alone. The DNR has gotten an influx of calls from people believing the young deer are abandoned but their mom is coming back.

Minnesota DNR making State Parks more accessible

The Minnesota DNR has made all-terrain track chairs available for use at five State Parks throughout Minnesota. The chairs allow visitors with mobility issues to explore trails and other areas that may have been inaccessible to them in the past. There is no charge to use the chairs.

30 years of work - Massive DNR "census" on our natural home wrapping up
