Endangered bee complicates Hwy 5 project

A major Carver County road construction project is at risk of being delayed after county officials learned their work could adversely impact an endangered species.

Spring is in bloom at the Arboretum

Though it has been a warm winter, it isn’t quite time for spring blooms, except at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum. Their Spring Flower Show opened on Feb. 8 and will run through March 10. The Arboretum is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. There are also special events planned on some events, including Date Nights on Feb. 15, Feb. 22, and Feb. 29. The highlights of the event include floor-to-ceiling flower installations in the Oswald Visitor Center and a plethora of orchids in the Conservatory.

An entrepreneur in Waconia turned an idea from her daughter's birthday party into a booming business. Crystal Jensen launched Candie Clouds a few years back. She spins sugar into fun creations including cotton candy cakes.

State Patrol: Teens injured, unbelted in Highway 212 crash

Two teenagers were injured in a three-car crash Saturday night on Highway 212 in Cologne, Minnesota. According to the Minnesota State Patrol‘s preliminary accident report, the 16-year-old driver and 15-year-old passenger of a car involved in the crash were not wearing seat belts.
