December warm stretch foils winter attractions in Minnesota

An unusually mild winter is wreaking havoc for some yearly winter attractions in Minnesota but organizers for Maple Grove's Ice Castles and the Pond Hockey Championships at Lake Nokomis are hopeful their events will go on.

Annual food basket assembly in Maple Grove

The giving spirit is alive and well in Maple Grove. The Maple Grove Fire Department and The Lions Club are teaming up for an annual tradition of assembling food baskets to support those in need. FOX 9 stops by Maple Grove Fire Station 4 for a look at the effort.

Maple Grove officer dragged during traffic stop

Dashcam videos recently released show a Maple Grove police officer being dragged nearly 40 yards by a suspect following a traffic stop on Nov. 13. The suspect was pulled over for tinted windows and failure to signal near Weaver Lake Road and 83rd Way in Maple Grove, but while the officers and suspect were chatting outside the vehicle, the suspect got back in the vehicle and tried to drive off, causing one officer to fall to the ground and the other to be dragged.

A storm rolled through the Twin Cities on Friday morning bringing heavy rain, thunder and plenty of lighting.

Pickleball gym with restaurant opens in Maple Grove

Pickleball gyms are popping up all over the metro, but a new one in Maple Grove is serving up more than just aces. Pints & Paddle has plenty of courts to play, but there’s also a large restaurant and taproom. The Kitchen has an extensive menu including hot-honey cheese curds and sticky ribs, more than four dozen self-serve taps with plenty of beer, cider, wine, cocktail and mocktail options. The pickleball courts open at 6 a.m. daily. It’s located at 15450 Grove Circle N, Maple Grove.

Bad Pants Open raises funds for special causes

Each year a golf course in Maple Grove will have golfers dressed in crazy pants as part of the Bad Pants Open golf tournament that raises money for Special Olympics and the PGA Reach. FOX 9’s Ian Leonard is live from this year’s 17th annual event, presenting the annual donation check.
