Minneapolis outlines fireworks, safety plan

Despite the forecast of potential rain, Minneapolis plans to celebrate July 4th with its first fireworks display in five years as part of its Red, White and Boom celebration. But before the event, city leaders held a press conference to outline its plans to keep the city safe throughout the night.

As people are getting ready to spend time outdoors for the Fourth of July holiday weekend, the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) has temporarily closed four beaches due to high E. coli levels. 

Mpls park workers could strike ahead of 4th of July

The union representing more than 300 park maintenance workers filed a 10-day strike notice in June, and Tuesday is the first day they could hit the picket lines. Workers say they are pushing for a pay increase, better healthcare, and safety. FOX 9's Bill Keller has more on what it could mean for Fourth of July celebrations.
