Mankato student asks McDonald's for a PlayPlace

An elementary school student wrote a persuasive letter to the owner and operator of Bamco McDonalds, which runs three sites in Mankato, to build a PlayPlace at one of its locations. FOX 9's Lauren Andrego sat down with Owner and Operator Colleen Vanblarcom on the impact that letter had.

Creekside Supper Club becomes Winter Wonder Bar

Several Twin Cities bars and restaurants are going all-in on the holidays with over-the-top decorations, to themed drinks and food. Creekside Supper Club in south Minneapolis is opening its Winter Wonder Bar on Tuesdays through Sunday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., and for brunch on the weekends through Jan. 12.

Woodbury house lit up for the holidays

A Woodbury homeowner has flipped the switch on his holiday light display at 8846 Glacier Road. Mike Pageler says he’s been putting up a light display synchronized to music on FM 97.9 for several years and adds new elements each season. The lights will be on nightly from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. through Jan. 1.

Chi-Chi's is making a comeback in MN

Chi-Chi’s restaurants are making a comeback in 2025 after closing their doors nearly 20 years ago. While exact details are not yet known, the first two stores will be opened in Minnesota sometime next year. The popular chain was founded in Minnesota in 1975 by former Green Bay Packers player Max McGee and restaurateur Marno McDermott. It expanded to over 200 locations across the U.S. before closing in 2004.
