MN weather: Rain totals from Monday's storm

A strong but compact storm rolled across Minnesota on Monday. It brought a heavy band of rain on the northern side of the system that dropped 2 to 4 inches of rain in many areas right along Interstate 94. FOX 9's meteorologist Cody Matz has more on the rain totals.

Due to storms passing through Minnesota on Monday evening – including some in the southern portions of the state that could potentially be tornadic – thousands are without power in the Twin Cities, according to Xcel Energy.

Heavy rain hit a large portion of the Twin Cities Monday morning, with the northwest metro getting hit the hardest. More rain is expected Monday afternoon as it moves south. Into Monday evening, the rain has the possibility to turn into storms.

Hurricane Debby makes landfall: The latest

Hurricane Debby made landfall in Florida Monday morning, bringing a life-threatening storm surge to portions of the state. It may also cause major flooding in the southeastern United States. It had maximum sustained winds of 80 miles an hour when it made landfall near Steinhatchee, Florida.

MN weather: Cool, cloudy and rainy Monday

It's a wet start to the week, with on-and-off rain expected on Monday. While the rainfall won't be particularly heavy, it could accumulate 1+ inches in the metro on Monday. Temperatures are on the cooler side with highs in the upper 60s.
