Monday night offers rain, storm potential

Plenty of rain on Monday will be mixed with the potential for scattered storms in southern Minnesota that push into the northwest portion of the state on Tuesday.

After heavy rain and storms Monday morning, the rain has taken a pause in the afternoon. Tuesday is expected to be hot and humid. Rain is expected to continue Tuesday, with a chance of rain throughout the week.

Several rounds of storms and rain are expected over the next few days, starting Monday morning. Severe weather started the morning with some severe thunderstorm watches and warnings. Flash flooding is possible with these storms.

The heat and humidity of Father’s Day will lead to relatively quiet weather into Sunday evening, but a cold front swings in from the west overnight to set the stage for the possibility of strong storms overnight Sunday into Monday. 

MN weather: Heat advisory for Father's Day

Father's Day will be a hot with a heat advisory in place for the Twin Cities metro Sunday starting at 1 p.m. until 7 p.m. Temperatures are expected to feel like 100 degrees. Rain is expected to continue into Saturday night. Cloud cover will linger into Sunday morning, but by the afternoon it's expected to be sunny.
