St. Paul bird sanctuary takes in captive parrots

An organization in St. Paul is dedicated to providing sanctuary for unwanted parrots. In fact, since its founding in 1999, MAARS has given refuge and medical care to 1,500 birds. They have a big flock living freely in their unmarked two-story building. At any given time, roughly 85 parrots are living at the sanctuary. The organization is run by volunteers who tend to the daily needs of the flock. MAARS says although the birds are beautiful and entertaining, they can be very difficult and demanding in captivity.
