MN school resource officer changes

As many parents and students prepare for back to school, so are school resource officers. And there's some confusion that's still being worked out. A few days ago, the Minnesota Police and Peace Officers Association wrote a letter to their members and Gov. Tim Walz saying they are concerned a new law passed this session won't allow them to do their jobs if a situation at school becomes unsafe. The new law states a school employee or resource officer cannot put a student in the prone position. Gov. Walz said police are misinterpreting the law and there are safety exceptions that allow a school resource officer to use reasonable force when needed.
