Emmer withdraws as GOP House speaker nominee

Minnesota Rep. Tom Emmer has abruptly withdrawn his bid to become the next House speaker hours after winning the internal party nomination when it became clear he would not have enough support from GOP colleagues following comments by former president Donald Trump.
