Cold April morning carries into snowy afternoon in southwest Minnesota

A cold April morning will lead us into a snowy afternoon Sunday, though the metro area likely won't see more than an inch or two.

The snow is expected to come in from southwest to northeast, likely getting into the metro by the early to mid afternoon. There is a Winter Weather Advisory for areas south and west of the metro for light to moderate snow.

Most of southwest Minnesota is expected to get 3-6" by the time the snow wraps up overnight, with a mere inch or two possible for the I-94 corridor and much of the metro.

As of 7:00 p.m., the National Weather Service is reporting the following snowfall totals:

  • Chanhassen, MN: 0.5"
  • Minneapolis - St. Paul: 0.6"
  • St. Cloud, MN: 0.7" 
  • Farmington, MN: 1.0"
  • Madison, MN: 6.0"
  • Milan, MN: 3.0"
