Call it Déjà vu, but here we go again with another round of overnight storms followed by a hot sultry afternoon. A wave of energy that will roar through overnight Friday into Saturday morning will bring with it the possibility of strong gusty winds, large hail, and heavy rains. Saturday will become one of those hazy, hot and humid days with temps near 90° and dew points in the 70s, resulting in triple digit heat index values.
The National Weather Service is trying something new, called the “Heat Risk”. As you can see on the charts below, the metro is in the orange and yellow, which means it is advisable to take it easy and #stayheataware.
The jet stream is north and this is allowing for the southern heat and humidity to spill into Minnesota and Wisconsin.
The actual temps will cross the 90 degree threshold in many parts of the region and the dewpoints will follow by crossing the 70° threshold. This is statistically the hottest week of the year.
The forecast is calling for more typical summer-like weather as we wrap up the weekend and head back into the work week. Stay cool everyone!
