MN weather: Frigid and sunny on Thursday

It’s brighter but staying bitterly cold on Thursday with single-digit temperatures and subzero wind chills.

Thursday’s forecast in Minnesota

What we know: Thursday will be frigid with wind chills at 5 to 15 degrees below zero. Much of the state will see single-digit highs, while northern Minnesota has subzero temperatures. 

While it is cold, it will be a much brighter day on Thursday with plenty of sunshine. Overnight will have mostly clear skies and light winds, though it will be bitterly cold.

Temperatures will drop below zero with lows around minus 3 degrees in the metro, and 18 below zero near the Canadian border. 

Warmer weekend in the Twin Cities

What’s next: Friday brings an increase in cloud cover and light southeast winds. Temperatures will climb slightly, but remain below seasonal averages, with highs in the teens. 

By the weekend, a gradual warm up is expected with highs reaching into the 30s, which will last until Monday. 

On Saturday, parts of southern Minnesota and the Twin Cities could see a wintry mix. Sunday looks fairly cloudy but warmer with temperatures in the mid-30s.
