MINNEAPOLIS (FOX 9) - Wednesday will be a much calmer day, with lighter winds, partly cloudy skies and temperatures in the upper 30s.

What to expect:
Wednesday will be a calm and mild day with light breezes at 5-10 mph, partly cloudy skies and occasional filtered sunshine.
A cold front is stalling over the I-94 corridor, ushering in cloud cover and colder temperatures in the teens for northern Minnesota. Elsewhere in the state, temperatures will remain above average but slightly cooler than Tuesday, when the Twin Cities matched a daily record high of 47 degrees.
Temperatures in southwestern Minnesota will range from the low to mid 40s, while central areas will see highs in the mid to upper 30s. The Twin Cities metro will top out at 38 degrees with overnight lows dipping just below the freeze mark.

Potential record-breaking warmth Thursday
What's next:
On Thursday, temperatures in the metro are making another run at record-breaking warmth, aiming for a high of 50 degrees, which would surpass the daily record of 48 degrees set in 1989.
Southern Minnesota will see widespread highs in the low to mid-50s, accompanied by plenty of sunshine and far less throughout the state on Thursday.
Friday will be slightly cooler but still above average with temperatures in the upper 30s, along with a few drifting clouds in the afternoon. By the weekend, temperatures will settle in the upper 30s and lower 40s, with a chance of light rain and snowflakes.
Temperatures are expected to plummet into the teens at the start of the week.
