MINNEAPOLIS (FOX 9) - The winter system moving through the Midwest will bring light snow, freezing drizzle and mist to parts of the region, leading to a glaze on roadways.

What we know: Saturday's weather will be a tough one for some. The precipitation will be on and off throughout the day with the system moving through the southern part of Minnesota, up through the Twin Cities metro and then across Wisconsin. Precipitation will range from mist to freezing drizzle to periods of snowflakes.
Some wintry weather may still come through in the evening with a light, freezing drizzle coating some surfaces, which will create some slippery roads.
Drivers are advised to watch the roads and use caution as the weather is expected to cause some issues.
Snow amounts will be minimal, but the mix of freezing drizzle will be enough to leave an icy layer on roads, bridges and overpasses Saturday and into Sunday morning.
Crash numbers
What we know: The Minnesota State Patrol (MSP) released the day's crash numbers at 1:45 p.m.
As of 1:30 p.m. on Dec. 14, there were a total of seven injury crashes; 23 vehicle off the road calls, two spinous and one jackknifed semi.
MSP did not report any fatal crashes.
Authorities advice
What they're saying: The Minnesota State Patrol is advising people to be cautious ahead of Saturday's freezing rain.
Drivers are told to remember the following:

- Be patient with snowplows
- Turn on your headlights
- Wear your seatbelt
- Put distractions away
On Saturday morning, the National Weather Service in the Twin Cities warned of icy patches on roads in the western and southern parts of the state.

The Sunday afternoon forecast does not appear as active, with winds coming from the southeast and a fairly cloudy day ahead.
Temperatures will warm to the mid-30s on Sunday afternoon.
Another front is expected to move through on Monday, with a chance of precipitation mostly in northern Minnesota.
Tuesday will likely be a little bit cooler, with a chance of very light snow in the evening and into Tuesday night.
Wednesday is shaping up to be a chilly day.
