MN weather: Gusty Saturday, mild Groundhog Day
Light snow accumulations return on Monday with cool to seasonable temperatures for the work week. FOX 9 meteorologist Jared Piepenburg has the full forecast.
MINNEAPOLIS - An area of low pressure will bring snow to parts of Minnesota long with gusty southeast winds today. Pockets of heavy snow look likely along the North Shore with some areas picking up over a half foot of new snow. Elsewhere in northeastern Minnesota and northern Wisconsin will see a few inches as well. The Twin Cities may pick up a little, but as temperatures climb above freezing this evening we may start to melt any new snow.

Weekend Outlook
Light snow and a little wintry mix will slide by the southern half of the state with more snow and even accumulating snow falling up toward Duluth and most of the Northland. The Twin Cities may pick up a little snow midday, but as temperatures warm to the mid-30s late afternoon and hold there through the evening we’ll likely see most of this light snow melt. Winds will stay gusty all day with very strong winds expected over southeastern Minnesota. Those areas could experience gusts hitting 45 to 50 mph.

A weak front will move through the area on Sunday. Temperatures will be quite mild with southern Minnesota having a decent shot at 40°. As the front moves by, a few light sprinkles may fall here and there.

Extended Forecast
Another wave of snow will move out of South Dakota Sunday night into Monday. This quick wave is shaping up to bring an inch or two of snow across the southern half of the state before pushing east across Wisconsin. We turn colder throughout most of the work week with some seasonable days sprinkled into the mix. No big systems impacting us in the upcoming days, but these light snows may slow down traffic here and there.
