Minnesota weather: Mild temperatures with Thursday thaw

A Thursday thaw is making the morning feel very mild, with temperatures expected to be even warmer on Friday.

Thursday thaw bringing warmer temperatures

What to expect:

A small amount of snow from Wednesday night could make the roadways a bit slippery, so commuters are advised to plan for a few extra minutes.

Thursday morning near-thawing temperatures are 30 degrees warmer than Wednesday morning and look to stay above freezing for Thursday afternoon.

It is expected to stay mild into the evening hours, with winds from the northwest blowing between 5-15 mph.

The northern part of Minnesota is still expected to be mild, with temperatures hovering in the mid-20s.

Friday will be even warmer, but breezy and fairly cloudy.

Much colder weekend with bitter wind chill

What's next:

An arctic air mass is expected to bring much colder temperatures for the weekend into early next week.

The forecast shows subzero temperatures and bitter cold this weekend.

That cold is expected to stick around all the way through Tuesday morning.
