Hail pelts vehicles on highways Friday

Several highways, including 394 and 35W, were hit with varying sized hail on Friday night as storms passed through the Twin Cities

Large hail hammered the Twin Cities metro on Friday, with some of the most intense hitting Minneapolis during the Friday evening commute.

The hailstorm brought traffic to a halt on Interstate 35W and Interstate 394, where some drivers stopped under overpasses to shelter their vehicles.

The storms also created some flooding on Minneapolis streets. A submitted video showed parked cars sitting in water up to the headlights on Garfield Avenue in the Wedge neighborhood.
