Minnesota weather: Wintry mix leads to icy road conditions, multiple crashes
MINNEAPOLIS (FOX 9) - A winter system is moving through Minnesota, bringing a mix of snow, freezing rain and icy road conditions.

Weather forecast: Saturday has brought a mix of precipitation ranging from mist to freezing drizzle and periods of snow. The freezing rain and drizzle is expected to move north across southern Minnesota this afternoon.
While snow amounts are expected to be minimal, the wintry mix could continue into the evening, causing road conditions to continue to be icy and slick from Saturday evening into Sunday morning.

Road conditions
What we know: According to the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT), as of 3:15 p.m., road conditions across the Twins Cities are a mix of ice or light slush on the roadway.
The majority of southern Minnesota had roadways and highways covered in light slush, ice, wet pavement and ice-covered bridges, MnDOT is reporting.
The slick road conditions are also extending north from the Twin Cities, with ice and snow covering the roads heading up to Duluth, including Interstate 35.
Metro Transit is reporting that as of 5 p.m., 38% of buses are experiencing delays, with an average delay of six minutes. No weather-related light rail delays have been reported.

Crashes from winter weather
The Minnesota State Patrol says as of 6 p.m., there have been 265 crashes statewide due to the weather. 183 property damage crashes, 18 injury crashes, 54 calls for vehicles off the road, five spin outs and four jack knifed semi trucks.
State Patrol has reported one fatal crash.
