MINNEAPOLIS (FOX 9) - A mild weekend is in store, with highs in the 40s for the Twin Cities. 

Mild Saturday for Minnesota

What to expect: Rain cleared out Saturday morning and clouds will begin to scatter. This could lead to a glimpse of sunshine on Saturday afternoon. 

The high on Saturday will be around 41 degrees for the Twin Cities. 

Meanwhile, a dense fog advisory is in effect for portions of Minnesota, stretching from northern Minnesota to south-central Minnesota until 10 a.m. 

What's next: Overcast skies return Sunday, with a high of around 40 for the Twin Cities. This will make for another mild day. 

Colder temperatures for the New Year

Looking ahead: After a mild end to December, things are looking chillier to start the New Year. 

Monday's high will be around 36 degrees, with light flakes possible. Then temperatures will dip below freezing starting Tuesday. Highs in the teens are expected by the end of the work week.
