MN weather: Gray, mild and wet Friday as drizzle blossoms into rain
MINNEAPOLIS (FOX 9) - It's a damp Friday with temperatures above freezing in Minnesota.
Wet Friday in the Twin Cities
What to expect: It'll be cloudy and foggy on Friday, with a dense fog advisory across Minnesota until noon.
Patchy drizzle and scattered light rain are expected in the first half of the day, but it will grow into more persistent areas of rain Friday afternoon and into the evening.
Temperatures are above freezing Friday morning and will climb to just above 40 degrees on Friday afternoon. We'll stay thawed overnight as the rain continues.
We could see a half-inch of rainfall on Friday, thanks to the on-and-off rain. Most of the rain will be across the eastern half of Minnesota, while western Minnesota won't be as wet.
Mild weekend ahead
What's next: The rain should wrap up around sunrise on Saturday in the Twin Cities as the clouds and fog linger. But we should break the cloud deck up a little into the afternoon and possibly see a few peeks of sun by Saturday afternoon. Temperatures will climb back into the 40s.
The mild weather will continue through the weekend, with highs in the 40s for the Twin Cities. Then it gets chillier, with a high of 26 degrees in the forecast for New Year's Eve and a high of 24 degrees for New Year's Day.
The average high this time of year is 26 degrees, with an average low of 12 degrees.
