Sherburne Sheriff: $100K stolen from safe, 4 arrested, 1 believed fled to Mexico
SHERBURNE CO., Minn. (FOX 9) - Authorities have arrested four suspects in connection with a stolen safe in Sherburne County containing more than $100,000 in cash, but they believe a fifth might have fled to Mexico already.

What we know: The Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office says that on Dec. 18, two men entered an occupied home on the 10800 block of 305th Avenue Northwest in Baldwin Township.
At the time of the burglary, police say a woman was inside the home and asleep, but didn’t realize two men had entered.
Home security surveillance cameras captured the suspects leaving the residence carrying the safe, one with a gun.
Suspect investigation
Dig deeper: Using surveillance footage from the homeowner, investigators were able to begin to identify suspects.
Following the burglary, an investigation spanning several agencies, including the Anoka-Hennepin Narcotics and Violent Crime Task Force, Minneapolis, St. Paul and Coon Rapids police, as well as the Sherburne County Drug Task Force and Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, reviewed hundreds of hours of surveillance footage and executed search warrants in multiple counties.
On Jan. 2, the Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office announced it had arrested and charged Yonathan Jose Gamboa Zambrano, 31, and Brandon Marlon Garcia-Becerril, 22. They are currently being held on $600,000 bail.
Carlos Anthonio Veloz-Garcia, 21, and Jennifer Damary Barrera Henriquez, 20, have also been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.
The investigation has also resulted in $36,000 of the stolen money being recovered by authorities.
Suspect fled to Mexico
What’s next: Investigators believe that Garcia-Becerril, who was seen carrying a gun when he exited the residence, has since fled to Mexico.
An investigation is active and ongoing.
