Eight people, including three firefighters, are recovering from injuries after an apartment fire early Saturday morning in St. Paul.

Firefighters responded to the apartment fire at 30 West Baker Street where one man suffered a traumatic brain injury after he had to jump from the third floor.

Before firefighters arrived, residents had put out most of the fire by using a garden hose.

Authorities say the 9-unit building is too small to require a fire alarm or sprinklers, both of which would've helped in the emergency.

Firefighters are investigating the incident.
