Fireworks on Lake Minnetonka cause fire, damage 5 boats, dock
ORONO, Minn. (FOX 9) - A fire caused by fireworks at a marina on Browns Bay on Lake Minnetonka damaged several boats and a dock early Wednesday morning.
The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office says at 1:44 a.m. on July 5, water patrol deputies and Orono police officers responded to the dock on Shoreline Drive in Orono, where they put out the flames.
Five rental pontoons were damaged at the marina.
Surveillance video from the area shows multiple people lighting off fireworks around the docks just before the blaze and then running from the marina. Several people were detained, and an 18-year-old was arrested and booked into the Hennepin County Jail for criminal damage to property.
